Tree Lighting

22nd Annual lighting of the christmas tree at the Jacksonville Landing. The artificial tree features 78,000 LED lights and is programmed to display a 10 minute Light Show at top of every hour. Special guests Mayor John Peyton and Toney and Bonnie Sleiman will light the tree. Music for the evening will be provided by the chorus and orchestra from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The evening will conclude with a large fireworks display on the St Johns River.

2009 Jacksonville Light Parade

Boats of every shape and size will be decorated with lights, festive decorations, and more. Prizes will be awarded for different categories. Following the 2009 boat parade, fireworks will be shot from river barges in front of The Jacksonville Landing, Hyatt Regency Hotel and Metropolitan Park. The signature "waterfall" fireworks will be shot from both sides of the Main Street Bridge and the east side of the Acosta Bridge. The parade can be seen from both the northbank and southbank of the downtown riverfront. Families bring their chairs, blankets and picnics to the riverfront.

Clean Up the Parks

Talbot Islands State Parks need your help to clean-up the parks. After a long summer and many storms, the Talbot Islands receive a lot of trash that gets washed onto the beaches. Come prepared to take a leisurely walk around the southern point of Amelia Island while cleaning up the beach. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided and no reservations are necessary. Remember to bring water and sunscreen.
